Anita Pointer, one of The Pointer Sisters, passes away at age 74

Anita Pointer, a Grammy-winning member of the Pointer Sisters who achieved pop success and widespread acclaim, passed away on Saturday at the age of 74.

She was one of the four siblings who became famous as singers in the 1970s thanks to songs like Jump and I’m So Excited (For My Love).

In a statement, Anita’s sister Ruth, brothers Aaron and Fritz, and granddaughter Roxie McKain Pointer said that while they were deeply saddened by her passing, they were also comforted by the knowledge that she was now at peace with her daughter Jada and her sisters June and Bonnie.

They continued, “She was the one who kept all of us close and together for so long.”

The sisters received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994 after their 1983 album Break Out went triple platinum.
